Hopeful Spaces: A Place for Girls
Goal:
$4,730,000
Funding Deadline:
December 31, 2024
Giving Type:
Capital Campaign
Project Description
A $14.8 million Hopeful Spaces Capital Campaign is underway at Ellipsis to increase capacity for essential and equitable services in quality facilities our youth deserve – spaces where they can live and learn – spaces where our staff can help them to grow into the neighbors, employees, and friends we know they can become.
Work recently started on Phase 3 of the campaign, a $4,730,000 girls center in Des Moines that will fill a critical community capacity gap. Nearly 50 group foster care beds for girls are needed in Polk County and, until recently, none were available within a two-hour drive of Des Moines. The girl’s center at Ellipsis’ new Noble Campus will serve 18 youth through two programs, group foster care for teen girls and Supervised Apartment Living for young women who will age out of the system without family support. Both programs encourage positive youth development, resilience, and skill building to support the transition to adulthood and long term well-being. Thank you for considering a gift to this critical project.
