Skate Club After-School Programs

Goal: $15,000
Funding Deadline: December 31, 2024
Giving Type: Timely Need

Project Description

Skate Club is an exciting after-school program for grades K-8. Currently we are working with Des Moines Public Schools to provide this program. Most schools have access to federal grant money to help underwrite this program. However several schools, even some of those with the greatest need, have no access to this funding. We would like to provide this program to up to six of these schools per year, free of charge. Each program costs Skate DSM approximately $2,500 for 6 weeks of skate instruction and equipment for up to 15 kids. What is Skate Club? Students will receive an introduction to skateboarding with personalized instruction. Skate DSM provides skateboards and helmets for all kids to use during Skate Club. Students who complete the program and show a strong interest in skateboarding will receive a free high-quality skateboard and helmet to keep through our Get on Board Project. Advanced skaters will receive instructions on how to perform skateboarding tricks.
