Community Foundation dedicates funds to help those affected by domestic violence

The gift is for CFI's Building Futures Capital Campaign, which will provide much needed renovations and updates to seven metro area locations. These particular funds are allocated to CFI's Domestic Violence Services Family Violence Center for much needed renovations to the facility.

"CFI has a long history of improving quality of life in our community," Fred Hubbell, Grantmaking Chair of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, said. "The Community Foundation's Leadership Grant in support of the Building Futures Capital Campaign will allow CFI to continue providing safe places for women and children who are victims of domestic violence."

Renovations to the facility will include, but are not limited to; roof replacements, HVAC, energy efficiency upgrades, enhanced security systems and resources, and handicap accessibility improvement.

"The shelter is a major component to our domestic violence services program and provides safe temporary housing for hundreds of women and children each year. With so many individuals utilizing the service, there is considerable wear and tear every year," says CFI Executive Director Gloria Gray. "We are fortunate to be able to partner with the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines to make necessary building enhancements that will allow us to continue this critical service to women and children who need it."
